The Dancing House, Prague, Czech Republic

Started in 1992 and completed in 1996, it took four years for Czech architect Vlado Milunic and Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry to construct Fred and Ginger, or better known as the Dancing House of Prague. It didn’t quite receive accolades or appreciation due to the architectural styles in vogue back then, but it had the full support of the then Czech President. It has been honoured by featuring its design on a 2000-year-old Czech Koruna Coin.

Hang Nga Guesthouse, Dalat, Vietnam

A Vietnamese architect namely Dang Viet Nga constructed this building which is popularly known as the crazy house. The overall construction of the building depicts a tree and boasts of other animal shapes like mushrooms, spiders and caves that are inculcated in it. It has been listed in World’s top 10 bizarre buildings in China’s People’s Daily.

Also referred to as ‘La Pedrera’ or ‘Open Quarry’, it is the last private residence designed by Antoni Gaudi between 1906 and 1910. The unconventional design of the structure had put it in the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1984. The modern building of Barcelona gathered much criticism during its time.
