This is a short and sweet manual for first timers who are about to visit Bhutan. We want to ensure that you have a shock proof experience during your Bhutan vacation and avoid those “classic first time mistakes” while you are there. Also, we have listed a few tips and giveaways for you so that you know your destination a tad bit better and can have a stress free vacation. Take note of these little pointers and you are good to go.

 

  • Best time to go for Bhutan vacation- October - December ( Autumn), April- May (Spring)
  • Bhutan is a hiker's paradise. So, hikers and trekkers can explore a lot even on their own in the nearby surroundings.
  • Carry cash with you as the ATMs are not that reliable at all times.
  • Camping is possible if you are doing multi day hikes in the country and in remote regions. You get horses, a guide and a cook as well.
  • Get a local sim card of you wish to stay connected. Roaming on your current service provider is not a sure thing .
  • Bhutan doesn't sell tobacco and is prohibited in public places. So, better carry your own cigarettes and ask your guide for those particular private places where smoking is allowed. Smoking weed is prohibited.
  • Dha is a common sport in Bhutan aka archery. You will be encouraged to try it as most towns have an archery field.
  • Indian Nationals don't need a visa to travel to Bhutan. Carry a valid passport or voter id card.
Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Bhutan vacation. Arrive at Paro airport I Transfer to Thimphu I Thimphu Half Day Sightseeing

Pick-up from Paro airport & transfer (65 kms – 1.15 hrs drive) to Thimphu. Pari Airport is one of the smallest and beautiful airport, before landing one can have a breathtaking view of Himalayan ranges from the flight.

Check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Tashichho dzong ( Outside view), National Memorial Chorten, Government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shops. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 2Thimphu Full Day Sightseeing

Thimphu is the only capital city of the world without any traffic signal. The traffic policeman stands at busy intersection to manage the traffic and all the vehicle mover so smooth and organizedly one can never believe that it doesn’t have a single traffic signal.
After breakfast visit to

● Takin Preserve – A wildlife reserve area for Takin, the national animal of Bhutan.
● Buddha Point – One of the largest Buddha Statue in the world, at 169 feet (52 m) and contains 100,000 8-inch-tall and 25,000 12-inch-tall gilded bronze Buddhas.
● BBS Tower – Amazing view of entire Thimphu City from here
● Arts and Crafts School
● Simply Bhutan Museum

After lunch visit to Changlimithang Stadium & Archery ground. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 3Thimphu-Punakha/ Wangdue via Dochula pass

After permit ( Permit is not issued on Saturdays, Sundays & Govt holidays) drive (70 kms / 2.30 hrs) to Punakha/Wangdue, en route halt at Dochu La Pass (3,100 meters), the pass is a popular location among tourists as it offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snow-capped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass.

Enroute visit Chimi Lakhang, Punakha Dzong and Suspension Bridge. Overnight stay at Punakha/Wangdue

Day 4Excursion to Phobjikha Valley

Today, your Bhutan vacation will take a really beautiful turn. After breakfast excursion to Gangtey & Phobjikha- [alt. 3000m] : The valley of Gangtey is one of the most beautiful spots in Bhutan. The surprise of finding such a wide, flat valley without any trees after the hard climb through dense forests is augmented by an impression of vast space. On the valley floor lays the village of Phobjikha. This place is the winter home of black necked cranes that migrate from the arid plains in the north to pass winter in milder and lower climate. Phobjikha,at an altitude of 2900 m, falls under the district of Wangduephodrang and lies on the periphery of the Black Mountain National Park. Return at Punakha.

Overnight stay at Punakha/Wangdue.

Day 5Punakha to Paro I Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, transfer to Paro & visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong which has a long and fascinating history. While getting back stop at. Later visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom and Tiger’s Nest View Point and Paro Brewery Factory. Return at hotel. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 6Day hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery / Taktsang Monastery

This is the most awaited day of your Bhutan vacation. Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site, is located approximately 10 km north of Paro town at an altitude of 3.120 meters. In order to arrive at the temple visitors must tre for around 2-3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forests. No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a visit to this remarkable world heritage site. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 7Drop to Paro International Airport- Flight Home

Today after breakfast, proceed to the airport for your flight back home.

There may be certain surcharges applicable at the time of booking. All above rates are subject to availability at the time of confirmation and can be changed without prior notice

Actual ROE is charged at the time of confirmation.

All tours are subject to weather conditions and will operate only if weather permits, no refund will be given if services are not operated due to weather or natural problems.

Please make sure you follow the timings given by the driver and guide for all the services and transfers. In case you fail to follow the timings, the Driver will leave for which no refund will be given.

Hotel and airline cancellations to be applied.

Hotels suggested in the itinerary can be changed and will be equivalent or more to the one given to you in terms of price as per the official rate sheet of the hotel.

Please note to take care of the visa processing and its time as we will not be responsible for any kind of delays or refusal of visa from the concerned consulate and the cancellation policy of the holiday will be applied.

The above tour cost is calculated as per the current taxes, visa charges and other charges as per the current date. Any change till the time of departure and any additional cost of such nature will have to be taken care by the client.
